A reputable non governmental organization “NGO” named Mobilization for Independence through the Mustard Seed Initiatives, also known as Project MIMI in conjunction with Akinyele South LCDA has flagged off an empowerment programme for the council youths.
The programme which took place at the council secretariat, Ikereku Area, Ibadan; on Tuesday had in attendance, the representatives of Project MIMI, members of Akinyele East LCDA caretaker committee, career offices, empowerment applicants etc.
While speaking at the flag-off event, the Project MIMI team leader, Mrs. Kemi Oshinyemi Cole said, “our empowerment is in two faces, we establish small scale businesses and we also train people and as well empower them after training, we also sensitize and monitor”
She further said, “our NGO has been into this humanitarian gesture since 2012, but we decided to step up the game in 2021 due to effect of “EndSARS Protest” in which numerous youth engaged themselves in thuggery and brigandage.
“We therefore decided to be empowering 50 youths from all LGs and LCDAs in Oyo state, starting from Akinyele East LCDA where we are today for the flag off”
While speaking on the development, the caretaker chairman, Akinyele East LCDA, Olumuyiwa Ogunrinde “AKA Odofin”, ably represented by the council secretary said, “we are very grateful for this great opportunity and privilege of this august empowerment, for considering us as the first LCDA to start with and we promised to also play our own role to ensure the programme is successful”
“Finally, the chairman charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity and not take it with a levity hands; while he equally wishes them all the best.
