One person was feared dead as scores of residents on Monday staged a protest in Sagamu, Ogun State, over the death of Remo Stars Football Club player, Tiyamiyu Kazeem.
The protesters, who took to the streets also stormed the Palace of the Akarigbo and the Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, demanding justice for the deceased.
However, the protest has allegedly claimed one life as it turned violent.
The protesters condemned the incessant brutality and indiscriminate arrests by law enforcement agencies in the town and its environs.
A former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, was sighted at the palace where he was said to have calmed frayed nerves.
Meanwhile, armed policemen have been deployed in the town to forestall a breakdown of law and order.
Mr. Kazeem, popularly known as Kaka, was reportedly killed on Saturday along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway after he was arrested by operatives of the Zonal Intervention Squad in the Obada area of the state.
